I think George really did a great job on this one. He has an amazing voice. paul is not bad either just not the singer that Queen needs. Brian and Roger can sing and thats the way they should have kept it.

This is indeed Michael's finest hour, and his voice is well suited to this tune, but as for him replacing Paul Rodgers, forget it. Sure, he's great at this kind of song, but I can't imagine a pop icon like this guy giving any balls whatsoever to We Will Rock You or Tie Your Mother Down. He just couldn't do it.

Sure, he's just written some of the greatest rock songs of all time is considered one of the most quintessential rock voices of all time.
Michaels is a good pop singer and good on a few of these pop tunes, but he'd never be able to lend the kind of 'balls' to We Will Rock You that a rock legend like Rodgers can. Paul isn't a rock opera kind of legend like Freddie is, but having old style rock and roll 'balls', he's got it in spades. You're just wrong on that count, sorry.

Well mcquestion, I disagree with you there, from what I've seen of George Michael singing live here on youtube I'd say he was equipt to sing pretty much anything, and if you think THIS is his finest hour I can't wait to hear what you think of his Somebody To Love at the Tribute Concert, it blew my socks off and 72,000 other Queen fans by the looks of it. I say you are wrong and don't appreciate George's diversity vocally. My opinion.

Hey, don't get me wrong, his "Somebody To Love" is probably even better than this, but it's still not diverse IMHO. It's still the pop, light side of Queen. If you can point me to something where he sings a tune like Fat Bottomed Girls, I'll at least consider it. Until then, agree to disagree.

No, Queen was four equal members. Freddie was a big part, but a lot of great hits, like this one were written by the other members. Really, it's no like they are the same, but Queen IS Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon. and Freddie Mercury

Good performance.
But this song sounds best when Brian May sings it. The version that is on the live DVD Return Of The Champions from 2005 completely slays all other versions of '39.

paul rodgers has an AMAZING voice... but it doesnt go with queens music at all... he sounds fake... he exaggerates so much when singing queens songs.. thats what i like about freddie, and also of george... they sound real...
