The song shows a typical Australian racist. We are not meant to agree with him. He is obviously a fool who contradicts himself. The song is making fun of people who have such ridiculous attitudes. Eric Bogle is a great song-writer, who wrote such classic songs as "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" and "The Green Fields of France." He also wrote some very funny SATIRICAL songs like this one. The best way to attack racist attitudes is to show how silly they are - and that is what this song does.
