Dave,
How can you say that? Gary Husband is renowned as one of the greatest drummers on the planet -if you watch him on other tracks/music he shows amazing feel - I know what you mean though regarding the gould cymbal finesse - it is wonderful - but as drummers go Husband in terms of technique, musical ability, and feel when he wants to play that way are on another planet to Phil - Phil Gould is not in the same league!

Haydens:
It's not a personal slam of Gary Husband on my part. I know Gary is one of the business's top drummers .And I think Gary adds more to the band live in terms of power and jamming, but I just like Phil's sound with the band a little better. It's matter of what I hear and solely personal.

One other point - and again it's my own persona taste - much of what hooked me on this song on the "Forever Now" album was Phil's jazzy snare work between the hard beats. It's the subtlety of his drumming that sold the song on me.
That said, L42 has been gifted with two excellent primary drummers.

This song is the one that brought me to my boyfriend Dave. Yes, this is the jazziest and funkiest of tunes. I will be there in October to see them and hear this. This for you Baby, I love you.

Amen to your conversations. I agree with you both. Very accurate observations. I initially thought Gould had a great baseline to L42's songs. After hearing Husband, he really adds so much more - his technique and style is on the mark. (I used to go with a drummer, so I know what is great) There has never been a band like this, and hearing them now, they are even better. An Big American Fan of L42 :~)

Don't sweat it. You're passionate about this great group we all enjoy, one blessed to have two groovemasters behind the drum kit full-time. I would loved to have been there the L42 concert that Billy Cobham will fill in for Gary.

I remember seeing them at the Royal Colston Hall in Bristol back in 2002. I seem to remember the keyboardist slipping in the old Turn it on chorus at 03:07.

Yeah this is not the best from Husband, and not a great mix at all. You want a really superior Husband version check out the one on "Live At The Apollo", which also is mixed by Julian Mendlesson. That one kicks.

i'm sorry my friend, how funny that would be, this song is from the forever now album, which is written about 7 years after phil left, and it fits with the forever now tune, so i do not believe it's written before phil left.
