having been what I suspect as kind of an outcast in the 80's, my English teacher was pretty into the cure when he was in high school. He referenced this song to our class last year when we were studying Albert Camus. I downloaded it after reading The Stranger. So great.

The book is about absurdism, not killing Arabs, for those of you who are unaware. It's about a man who is convicted of murder mainly because he seemed so cold and emotionless after his mother died. Camus was against racism and oppression. I think he picked an Algerian character as the victim because he was born in Algeria and the conflict between native and French Algerians was something he was familiar with.

Being French, I can only approve what you've written... Most of French people have studied that book at school, and I guess none of our teachers would say Camus was a racist... quite the opposite actually. In the story, Meursault (main character) killed the arab guy mostly because of the sun shining on his knife, dazzling him... that guy could have been French, English, Black, yellow or pink, this doesn't matter at all...
