The EU is not simply an "organization" and there is no danger of loosing national identities. This is guaranteed by EU laws, so I think your fears are baseless!
The only way to overcome wars and conflicts between European nations, is the EU integration. This is also better for national minorites beacause borders exist only on paper.

Look at the example of countries like France and Germany... they were enemies for many centuries, but now they are the closest allies. The same is valid for Hungary and Romania. Instead of territorial revisionism and wars, they changed their political attititude and became strategical partners thanks to the democratic "push" coming from Brussels since they started to prepare themselves for EU integration.

Euriel1, excuse me, but you're just repeating EU propaganda lies. The EU (or the Common Market) was created AFTER peace was established in Europe. The last European warmonger, the German Reich, was converted to peace by British and US bombers in 1945. Then, the Soviet threat was kept at bay by NATO.
On the contrary, the EU may end up in a war, as all supranational federations did in history: The EU is a potential cause for war.

you don't seem to understand that for centuries, European countries were constantly at war. i mean just look at the European History, it's really hard to find a period of peace, but since the EU was established : no wars or major tensions for over 60 years, it NEVER happened before. Never our countries have been so close and so willing to work together before.

Can you tell us some examples and evidences (!) WHY the EU will be the cause of war?
If the Lisbon Treaty will be approved (also by Ireland), any of the member states will be allowed to leave the union if their people decide to do so. There is no reason to wait for a war to do so!

Of course, I hope the EU will not be a cause of war. It remains that forcing nations into a supranational federation is playing with fire. The Lisbon treaty was not approved by Ireland, it was rejected, just as the constitution project was rejected in several major countries. The EU bureaucracy is still trying to force us to accept it. Counting on "the Lisbon treaty to be approved also by Ireland" is despising the people's choice. Exactly the attitude which causes the citizens to reject the EU.

Because the EU quasi constitution can overide any member states national laws withought their support. Because once your part of the EU the people have no power only their leaders who were in bed with the EU before the EU was even created. The EU is a sham just like the UN. Secret prisons are locking up people all the time and legal system is a joke because they can deny you trial. To me it seems like the EU is a police state and it is in the interest of all European countries to dissolve it.

But don't think that all the EU citizens share your views!
The majority of the Irish people didn't even know the Lisbon Treaty and right wing national parties misleaded them. There is no treat for any nation from the side of the Union. Even national minorites and authonomous regions have fundamental rights within the EU. Without EU small folk groups would disappear in Spain, Romania, France etc..

What I saw personally was: NO voters who had read the text carefully and discussed it, vs. YES voters who had not read it and just believed vague promises.

They told the Irish Government to not even tell the people it was a treaty just so their wouldn't be a referendum. But Lisbon was shot down, I think they're trying to ratify it at the moment so they can have a lisbon 2 treaty...how lame is that??
