Green Onions (organ solo cover version)
Uploaded by: rounder2u
Video Description:
I've stayed as close as possible with my right hand to the organ solo in the original recording from 1962, and to get a full bass left hand sound I'm using a pedal tone with my thumb, in addition to the walking bass. I'm playing at around 140BPM as it is the tempo in the original recording.
The piano is an Yamaha P-120 with the jazz organ setting.
Green Onions was composed and first recorded by Booker T. and The M.G's in 1962.

I recieve questions in comments and in messages about learning playing this song so I finally put together a rather lengthy guide (actually it's a number of pages long) for learning songs and learning this song in particular. If anyone would like to have my guide for learning Green Onions, just ask for it in a comment or a message here at YouTube and I'll send the guide in a message.

It seems like you have to change some kind of setting, or it's a YouTube quirk?

Got your email, thank you so much. A little hard to follow but practice, practice. It is really kool to learn the notes and play while watching you play. Can you play Sheriff, when I'm with you ??? I'd really like to learn the begining of that one.
Thanks again,
~Bill~
Check me out sometime, you might see a pix you like and I could send it to you,,,wwdotbillgass dotcom
Yeah, there is no big hidden secret really. A few good tips, yes, but no magic. We all need to practice to improve, as simple as that. No matter what area we're interested in - music, exercise, photo, etc.
A good way is to do what you're doing - playing along a record or a video.
No 'Sheriff...' for me right now, as I'm busy with other stuff :-)
Btw, nice site!

Yeah, it's great fun to play this song!
