From the author of Fight Club... A wickedly colorful dark comedy about mothers and sons, sexual compulsion, and the sordid underbelly of colonial theme parks. Victor Mancini (Sam Rockwell), a sex-addicted med-school dropout, who keeps his increasingly deranged mother, Ida (Anjelica Huston), in an expensive private medical hospital by working days as a historical reenactor at a colonial-era theme park.

I know what you mean about the difference between a common weekly tv show and a full-blown cinematic screenplay. I'm semi-let-down by this preview. The photography and screenplay could definitely have been more unique and less mainstream. I'll still see the movie and I'm at least happy that there isn't Paul Rudd and
Seth Rogan in this film. Those guys are great Apatow actors, but already I feel I'v seen enough of them.

The trailer looks like shit. The acting I can tell is horrible. It does not do the book justice.
It seems to have traded the disturbed and really perverted nature of the novel for a more mainstream and boring approach

Agreed, there was such a blank slate to work with visually and it's a shame that it was so played down. If I saw this movie before I read the book then I would not want to pick up the book, which is an even greater shame.

i pictured the banter between victor and denny to be more subtle and less comedic, like real friends. can't judge the movie by its preview but i just get a different vibe off the book than this. fight club, the movie, was so excellent because it was so dark and genuine.

Weird thing to pick up on maybe, but I'd have pictured Denny as really skinny?? I'm pretty sure that's how he's described.
Anyway, I don't really like the look of this... though I might be a bit biased because Choke's my favourite book. I'll have to see the whole thing, but the preview does not look good :S
