Ringo was not very sick, he didn't catch pleurisy and his immune system was just fine. He just had his tonsils taken out at the time.

Yes. Ringo needed to have his tonsils removed, and rather than postpone the tour (as would, no doubt, happen today), the powers-that-be sent the Beatles out with a substitute drummer! Ringo, of course, recovered and joined the tour in Australia. As for Jimmy Nichol, he retreated back into obscurity.

Take the excitement that's shown in these videos and multiply it a 100 times. That's what is was like. Almost everyone, across society, racial barriers, political systems were affected. I lived during that era, nothing to match has come this way since.
The fans girls were the same for Elvis, and before Elvis Frank Sinatra. They all screamed and acted the same way.
But the excitement the Beatles generated was an intoxicating brew. The Beatles lead a generation by being themselves.
