Every note, every nuance is exactly in place. The perfection of his playing is the excitement. The conductor and orchestra were exactly correct. This is a legendary performance.

Don't insult this unforgettable conductor! I was lucky enough to play under him. He was a most charming and loving person. And a true genius as musician and conductor with unbelievable knowledge of the orchestral colours.

Yes it's the L.S.O. (with the late and much lamented Anthony Camden playing oboe). I was there for both performances of the Ravel and Michelangeli's solo concert that followed and then met Michelangeli afterwards. According to Anthony Camden (then L.S.O chairman) Michelangeli was staying in a bullet proof apartment in London (he was that paranoid!). Will never forget these concerts!

what a great virtuoso he is,particularly in this mouvement full of power and how expressive he plays,weightily but lightly at the same time and by the way the most awesome hands i ve ever seen playing the piano.i dare say that he was the greatest pianist who ever lived,the greatest in the sense of perfection esthetically and controlling all.some people say that being divine is against humanity but listening to him i always think he´s a human being but very close to god,the closest of all !:)))
