ooooooohhhhhh, get you. Indie IS a genre, it says so in my local record shop, there's a section labelled it and everthing. So indie IS a genre. So is Metal, so is Easy listening. But theres no section entitled Anarchism in there. Or Acidfolkhop. Or Post-skifflecore for that matter

-sigh-.. well, Here goes: it's not a music genre because every band, group and musician in existence has gone through the act of trying to be heard. Money isn't the real issue here, it's just being a popular group. Record shops now do not know what they are doing.
Metal makes sense because it's fundamentally different than Blues, but the musicians in both cases of music have essentially gone through the same tiring deal. It's actually "Anarcho-Punk", a sub-genre of a sub-genre..

Okay, wank-stain, let's analyze further-on, shall we? Now, what does "Independent" mean? It doesn't translate verbatim into vagrancy, it just means 'seperare from the majority of opinions' or close to it; if your argument that 'Indie' means small, I entirely disagree. Really, to be 'Indie' should mean 'differing the norm', but all these 'Indie' bands are very opposite of that--Zappa could be Indie; Death Cab? No.
