Doyle Dykes -- "Tricky Pickin'"
Uploaded by: Jer1400
Video Description:
Here's another little medley Doyle threw at us that night. Again, thanks to my friend, Loc (tienloc47), for shooting the video. :)
Well, it's a little bit of "Lover Come Back to Me", a little bit of "Avalon" and some other bits along with plenty of tricks and licks thrown in to this pot of spicy 'Chicken Pickin' Soup'. Enjoy & blessings of music and God's love to y'all. :)

As soon as you can perform an ENTIRE set of acoustic guitar a cappella, without empying the room, and invent a superior sound reproduction system for live acoustic guitar, THEN you can whine; until then, just enjoy the MAD SKILLS OF Mr. Dykes.
I've watched his videos on youtube now, and 40% talk about how great he is, and the other 50% are haters who say his tone sucks. Here's a hug, hater.
Piezos are only as good as their preamps, yes they're cheap, but effective, I've heard electric fiddles that sounded terrible with a >$1000 L.R. Baggs piezo/preamp and the smae instrument sounded great with a $2.99 piezo from Radio Shack.
Compression and the microphone used to record the video are the biggest single factors. As for not being able to tell the difference, pshah.
would be awesome live!!!
Shame about the tone, the performance is flawless.
Taylor cracks me up.
Buy a Taylor with the "incredible" Expression System for 2 to 10 grand. Oh, but if you want it to sound good, buy the Taylor/Neve-who-ever-the-hell-he-is T4 pre-amp for another 800 bucks. Then, waste a couple months trying to get a DECENT live sound, then go back to a 300 dollar Tak and say hello to ebay.
Sheesh.
Repeat after me: Taylors sound great unplugged.
I met this guy when I was around 13-14 btw.. A friend of mine played drums at church, and his family hosted him at their house all week.
