Carl Sagan's "Pale Blue Dot" - Greyhaven7
Uploaded by: Greyhaven7
Video Description:
On Feb 14, 1990 NASA, by request of Carl Sagan, commanded the Voyager 1 spacecraft, having completed its primary mission and now leaving the solar system, to turn its camera around and to take a photograph of Earth... 4 billion miles away. In this image, Earth shows up as merely a "pale blue dot" seemingly drifting in a sunbeam (the first image in the video). The Earth is only 0.12 pixels wide in the original version of this image. The words being read are Carl Sagan's reflections on this image.

A pixel is NOT "either on or off." A pixel represents a value of 0-255 in each of 3 or 4 bands.
Bright objects much smaller than a pixel are detectable if they are viewed against a dark background because they color the whole pixel.
SardonicusRexx's comments appear rather ignorant. I can't tell is he's just trolling or if he really doesn't get it.
