i love how people are so quick to judge the acting in the movie. you know, not the message, which is the point! the acting was great in my opinion, not to mention it was done by volunteers. just like "Fireproof." both great movies with great meaning. with Jesus, anything is possible. and with that said, i hope he helps you realize that.

You can curse me as much as you want but I have to be honest. I am a Christian, yes, and I don't object to movies having a spiritual message as long as they earn it truthfully, but Facing the Giants has no values whatsoever with reality. Alex Kendrick clearly has no idea how to write or direct movies in any fashion and his actors don't bring any emotion into the characters either. ...imagine any football team acting so cruelly towards the underdog like that. Many scenes in the movie like the one with the small aspiring athlete who is discouraged by his tough father (if I can remember it right) are so corny that they play more for laughs than tears. If the coach can come back from the brink of possibly being fired after six years of losing by reading the Bible or searching his faith in the Lord, I'm amazed that none of God's miracles helped us out like he did. ...difficult than you might think it is. God is always there for you when you need him, but he won't come down to you like a genie in a bottle. I have not yet seen a movie that stays true to one's faith without having to use any ancient Hollywood cliche to deliver the message across. I understand that this wasn't a Hollywood production, but as a church project from Georgia I should be amazed that it even made it to the big screen. ...aclaim somewhat, but it doesn't have the potential of being in the same boat as other independant films. I'm sure Kendrick means well but he should have gotten some help with making the movie. Because this is his second feature he might have better experience next time. Now that's something he could ask God to guide him with, not just for the predictability of it.

i am a Christian too and i LOVE this movie
and it does have values toward life cuz its based of a true storie so how that dosent connect to life is your opion but it does and i am not trying to be rude like some people but i am just saying that this is the best Christian movie i have ever seen and also it was made by a church in Geogia. and if you are a Christian than you should know that God is allways there he doesnt have to come down like a Genie in a bottle....

I'm not saying that I am right about what I said, I'm saying that I've seen better movies about the subject of faith than this. Beyond the Gates, for example. Of course, there are some who WILL disagree with me but they wouldn't be right either. I just didn't think the film had the inspiration.

Well, just as Christ does not care about what our hair is made up to be, how our make up is put on, on what Brand clothing we wear, its all about the "message". Amen and Amen. HOllywood is all about the Glitter and NOT the message. I personally dont care if this was poorly put together, if it had the message of Christ in it. Funny, but I am glad God does not look at the outside, but the intent of our souls! Praise Jesus for that.

I do empathize with you and all the other Christians that liked the movie, but I couldn't see the message without thinking about all the Hollywood nonsense that influences moviemaking. It's hard for me as a result for becoming an aspiring film critic.
Unlike other users, I tried my best to not be disrespectful like most negative comments are. I don't like to sound mean. Why must every poor comment have to use vulgarity? That's sick!

This movie encouraged me to quit smoking. It was awesome. My favorite thing about this movie is that God does open and close doors that He wants to, and if we place our trust in Him, set our own wants aside, and when we ask Him for help, prepare for rain, we will receive it. And even if we dont get what we ask, we Praise Him! Cause He deserves it! ;)
