infact, im from the same are of scotland as Amy is.
(so stick that in your pipe and smoke it - I find it offensive when people mistake me for an english person.)

it's not just her accent. an accent doen't make your voice vibrate like that (well, her's doesn't, anyway.)

The reason her voice sounds what you refer to as weird is her singing technique. She tightens up her throat and some might say doing so makes it sound as if you're singing with a potato in your mouth. I think it's really just a matter of taste whether you like it or not.

The reason why it sounds different from the studio version is most likely because they have used effects to change her voice. I know Antares has made a vocal toolkit with a feature called "throat" which lets you process a vocal through a meticulously crafted physical model of the human vocal tract. "throat" begins by neutralizing the effect of the original singer's vocal tract and then gives you the ability to specify the characteristics of the modeled vocal tract.
