On/off switches on products should do exactly that, and also we should make laws governing how much electricity things can waste. why the fuck is my microwave stealing my electricity? what exactly is it doing Panasonic? The worst energy vampires I have are full size refrigerator (nearly empty) oven and stove in a one bedroom apartment. The refrigerator is the worst as it's usually nearly empty.
If I put the second bottle of laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc at the back of the refrigerator, as well as keeping filtered drinking water in closed jars in there, I not only free up a lot of storage space, but keep the fridge from being so much of a vampire.
