EXPLOSIVE DUMOG

Uploaded by: videobudo
Video Description:
The O.P.F. System includes, among other elements, techniques, principles and concepts from Dumog, the Philippine version of Grappling, which, combined with JKD, offers a complete and effective combat system, targeted at law enforcement, and also adapted for civilian use. In this new DVD, focused on the "civilian" version of Dumog, we study the techniques that allow to stop the strength of the opponent, acting with fists, elbows, head, etc. on vital anatomical points in the nervous system. Once again, Oliva deepens in the concepts and applications of JKD, developing new ways that allow us to acquire technical knowledge, extremely effective and lethal for the opponent.

I don't see how it is a rip-off when they state clearly that it's a FMA Grappling skillset. And I'm quoting the info, so the state it clear enough.

Salaam Alaikum, ... ( 5 months ago by Shihabudeen7)
Salaam Alaikum, peace as a teacher of an ancient form of silat I can tell you that dumog is a very basic form of Indonesian silat... Leo Gaje knows this, its older than the recorded history... at its root its a bladed dance... the islands of the phillipines borneo brunei and the indo archepelago have forms of it becoming more diluted as you distance out from the sumatran source... the systems of pukulan, and cimande as well as gulat are closer to the pure forms of this sourcing...

waalaikum salam. Very true, but both do have their merits.
I come from a long line of Silat practitioners and guru's from West Java (Garut, I think). Currently known as Gajah Putih/Jati Wisesa but predates that style. Emphasis on elbows and close quarters I beleive. Can you help me out and inform me of the style? I think one of my ancestors known as Mangkurat or Brajayudha

Salaam Alaikum, the lineage holder of your system could truly know its origin...the best another guru can do is guess... much can be known from core stepping of your style... pukulan is all close qaurters for example, elbows and fists percussion, in true old style silat they are all blended into one... through kembangan, what matters is the pure intention of the persilat in his expression to be inspired, its immersion in the infinite technically there is no end, only thunder follows lightning

waalaikum salam - beautifully said !
Wish I could take time out of my life and go back to Indonesia to learn and study silat in it's least watered-down state.
Where are you based, and what system do you teach?

Dumog and all this pekiti tirsia and kali were created by americans by stealing all different techniques from martial arts styles from around the world.
By claiming that it's an old martial art from philipinnes (former american colony) they try to let it sound very authentic for the people all over the world.Tradition and rituals.

speak of something you know of. you have know idea what you are talking about. have you benn to the philippines? are you familiar with our history? the fma were banned by the spanish when they conquered us, until it was rediscovred again in the modern world. back in the time villages(barangays) were fighting with fists, knives, and bolos. and these were different knids of martial arts which the spanish were scared of. ask ferdinand magellan when you see him in the afterlife.

i agree. silat and other martial arts developed some techniques from fma when it was banned by the spanish during their 300 year plunder. it was stagnated but maintained its original forms. the filipinos were fighting with malaysia and indonesia during pre-spanish times. ever wonder why the sultan of sabah asked help from sulu when they were fighting with other malay villages in that period of history?

Hi Valetudo,
it`s only my opinion, but:
1. Where your heads goes goes your body > its easy to controll someone with the head
2. Knee: You stand on just one leg: Someone could throw you to the ground an then you are fucked outside the ring. Especially when your oponent has some friends. My opinion.
3. The neck ist vulnerable.
4. Elbow is ok ;-))
